RC BoatsRC boats which are very popular are extremely fun toys, especially for the water loving enthusiast. They are a very popular site at lakes, ponds and are a fantastic family fun past time. They can be tons of fun as they rip
up the water at top speeds during an RC speed boat race or sail smoothly across a lake on a peacefully quiet Sunday afternoon.
Radio controlled boats make wonderful gifts and most of them come ready to run right out of box. However almost all of the time the fuel, start packs, batteries and chargers are sold separately and must be purchased before the RC boat can be operated. You should also be aware that since most RC boats use rudders and propellers that are submerged pretty deep into the water, your boat can become tangled in any sea weed that’s in the water and can get stuck out on the water. So unless you have your waders on it is a very good idea to use your boat
in clear clean water.
There are many different types of RC boats to choose from, each with it's own difference:
Electric powered RC boats are a perfect introduction into the world of RC boating. They are less expensive then RC gas boats and much easier to run. They generally cruise around at about 15 – 20 mph but some do go faster. You should be aware that electric boats do become slower as the run time
progresses and it’s battery power depletes. It is therefore very important to bring your electric boat closer to shore as the
battery becomes weaker so as not to get stuck out on the water.
Nitro powered RC boats are more expensive then their electric conterparts and although they require more work then an electric powered boat, they are fairly easy to operate. Nitro powered RC boats generally cruise at speeds of 30 – 35 mph but can go faster
and their engines average about 20 to 30 minutes of run time per tank. Unlike electric powered boats which weaken as the battery runs down,
nitro powered boats deliver full power throughout the tank of nitro fuel.
Gas powered RC boats are the fastest of the three types of RC boats. Their 2 cycle engines require regular car gas along with 2 cycle oil and can cruise for up to 45 minutes on a tank of gas. Gas powered boats are capable of very high speeds that range from 40 to 45 mph and faster. You should also be aware that if you wish to race more than one RC boat together, the frequency needs to be different for each boat. | ||
